SUMMARY: Drives and maintains Proteus mobile unit. Provides outreach, orientation, workshops, intake assistance for customers, as well as computer use and job search assistance. Acts as community liaison between Proteus, Inc., partner agencies, and communities served by mobile unit.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Acts as liaison between storage facility and Proteus, Inc. to ensure proper maintenance, cleanliness, and security of Proteus mobile unit.
2. Maintains vehicle service logs and schedules maintenance as per manufacturer’s recommendations.
3. Drives vehicle from storage facility to service location or other destination according to assigned schedule or direction of supervisor, maintaining safe operation and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
4. Provides outreach, orientation, workshop facilitation and instruction services in each service location as directed by supervisor.
5. Acts as liaison between Proteus staff, partners, and users of services including ensuring professional atmosphere and safe use of vehicle and facilities by each.
6. Assists with initial assessment, eligibility, and intake process for enrollment into Proteus, Inc. programs.
7. Ensures that all necessary paperwork and M.I.S. data entry, including POSSE, is completed accurately and in a timely manner for all services rendered through Proteus’ mobile unit.
8. Acts as liaison between Proteus, Inc. and communities, ensuring that a positive and competent perception is projected and maintained.
9. Works closely with Program Coordinator/Program Manager to coordinate and integrate mobile unit services with local priorities, including among other things, attendance at staff meetings and events as scheduled.
10. Follows all safety policies and procedures and immediately reports any safety problems to supervisor.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. This position requires the ability to safely and effectively drive a 36 foot vehicle and successfully complete the training that will be provided. A good driving record from the DMV is required.

This position has non-standard hours.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school graduate or equivalent and three months directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Moderate computer skills required for data entry, Word, Excel, and other software programs, as required for the position.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Access to transportation, California driver’s license, and minimum auto insurance as required by law. Must maintain a good driving record.

Employment Range: $15.18 - $16.64/hr.
